Some may seem that way to those who dont adhere to a particular faith. But most, if not all, of these schools require their faculty to live up to the same or stricter standards standards that the faculty and the school believe are right. If a student applies and is admitted to one of the educational institutions it is safe to assume that theyve read and have agreed to the guidelines. Attending chapel is mandatory, and it is heavily suggested that not participating in other Christian ceremonies or functions is highly frowned upon. I read the qualifications for these schools and got to thinking about it seriously. Just as with eating food offered to idols, as Paul discusses, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with alcohol consumption. Students are not permitted to attend parties where alcohol is being used in a manner that violates University standards. But controlled and responsible use of alcoholwhich Christians too often forget was how Jesus approached alcoholshould not be limited because it has the mere potential to be used irresponsibly. Arrests, convictions, and firearms understandably lead to suspension or termination, but so can purchasing and consuming alcohol (even when of age), attending a bar or a club, involvement with a cult, Satanism, or witchcraft, or engaging in sexual activity. Cedarville University is an independent Baptist school located in Cedarville, Ohio, which teaches its academics "by Christian tradition" meaning, believing that their take on religion is the only right view, that free speech is a no-no, that gays are evil, that evolution is religion and creationism is science, that the bible is a history textbook and that any TV show/movie/video game/book . I went to Asbury college and for a Christian college I have never had such a bad taste in my mouth for a group of people. Those who attend any religious school, on their own desire, will attend one in line with their personal religious beliefs. An upper classman lied and told the dean that I had looked at a male student in a sexual manner while walking home from chapel and was campused w/in the first weeks there. Major infractions largely accepted by mainstream society and allowed under American law include dating violation[s], owning potentially offensive media (which will get confiscated), swimming with the opposite sex, patronizing a movie theatre, attending a concert, receiving a tattoo or piercing, gambling, possessing pornography, or purchasing and using tobacco (even when of age). I often hang out in large groups without a chaperon at like 2am. -Using Profanity, really, it isnt allowed in any K-12 school, and they dont want people cussing their heads off here. Cedarvilles prohibition of alcohol simply diversifies students tactics to engage in the habits they will inevitably choose to form. Whoever wrote this had the facts waaaay off about Liberty U.
